THE BEST OF JÜRGEN PROCHNOW
DAS BOOT
Anybody need any more explanation of why this is a great performance in a great role in a great movie?
I didn't think so.
This one's a clinic in giving a 4-minute character an astonishing amount of depth.
One of Jürgen's most understated roles ever, and still his nastiest villain. Anyone for a little tension?
This is Jürgen's one real psycho role to date and it's an awesome performance from beginning to end. Poor Candice...
When else have you ever seen Jürgen so angst-ridden, so unsure of himself every moment, and so thoroughly convincing? (Ok, the "convincing" part is routine.) A bravura performance.
Brenner stays amazingly calm and level-headed throughout this film considering all the weirdness he's subjected to. And thanks to Jürgen's fine performance you can get welts and rope burns watching him being beaten up, which might distract you from the frostbite... if you're lucky.
This role was tailor-made for Jürgen, a character who's a good guy AND a bad guy at the same time - at least until you find out which persona is the real Kovacs.
A really bad guy who's winning the whole time, and terribly happy about it? Gotta love it.
By popular vote, first prize for fans' favorite performance in a bad movie. You go, Jürgen!
