This starts out as just your common garden-variety stupid horror movie, and will probably stay that way for some viewers. What with the Keystone Kops act up front, I figured the filmmakers couldn't possibly be serious about this thing. I was sure of that 20 or 30 minutes into it, and as a time-waster just for laughs it works pretty well. I can't give it full approval mainly because the pacing was too slow in spots, which is a critical flaw for a tongue-in-cheek thriller. However, the script was bad enough to be funny and the actors played it out just right.
Unfortunately, Jürgen gets croaked about a half-hour into it. That really is a shame, because he was playing the slightly soppy, genteel sort of character that I like seeing him do -- especially when one of the last movies I saw was GUNBLAST VODKA. He could have added a lot of extra fun to this if he'd stuck around.
I do give the movie credit for not putting any talentless ho-boys or bimbos in the cast, which is usually standard procedure with these things. Judd Nelson, in particular, is a treat to watch here, and the chemistry between him and Porizkova is excellent. I can't recommend the movie to Jürgen fans, but I do recommend it to fans of Nelson, Porizkova, or Larry Drake. If you enjoy watching any of them, it's too much fun to miss.
