DARK ASYLUM

2001. Stars Paulina Porizkova, Judd Nelson, Larry Drake.

Porizkova and Nelson are a psychiatrist and a patient trapped in a mental hospital with a homicidal maniac on the loose. Prochnow is the admitting psychiatrist who becomes the killer's first onscreen victim. It's a campy B-grade horror flick much in the spirit of RE-ANIMATOR. The movie rating is a tough call because it's just shy of good popcorn or a really swell bad movie, but it's awfully close to being both. Prochnow is in it too little to make it worth seeing just on his account, but the cast plays this with just the right mixture of seriousness and cartoonishness. Recommended, just for fun, for anyone who's a fan of one of the stars.
