ELITE

2000. Stars Jason Lewis, Maxine Bahns, Jürgen Prochnow.
Five children of people who died in a terrorist attack have been raised as The Elite, a sort of James Bond-times-five secret government group who fight terrorists around the world. Prochnow is the supervillain they're after. The whole thing is unimaginably preposterous, but in many respects it's a superior entry in the "mission impossible" genre. The extreme silliness is entirely intentional -- it's fun, it's witty, it has attitude, and Prochnow's role is a riot. If it had been completely lighthearted from start to finish, we'd have called it a comedy and given it a higher overall rating. As it is, consider it pretty much a must-see if you love Jürgen Prochnow. We haven't had this much fun since DNA.
