1985. Stars Jürgen Prochnow, Jacquline Bisset.

This romance between a German woman and a Jewish man in Germany during World War II has good intentions, good dialog and superior performances in its favor. Unfortunately, the story line is poorly constructed and aims toward nothing in particular. With little action or real drama, all the momentum dies early, making this nearly 2-hour-long film a tiresome one. Prochnow pulls off a real miracle by making you care whether his character gets killed or not at the end. Irene Worth is outstanding in a supporting role as Jürgen's mom.
