TÖDLICHE WAHL

Well, someone expressed a desire to complain about this one, so we have that to look forward to. Meanwhile, strictly as a Jürgen fan I had a good time with this, but it's impossible to really follow if you don't understand German. You can more or less tell what's happening, but you don't know why; none of the motivation comes across without the dialog.

My big gripe is the two main actresses. (Gee, if I had a nickel for every time I've said that.) Jürgen's paramour was the kind of severely irritating character that you can most easily picture Estelle Parsons playing. She would have been more enjoyable if Estelle Parsons HAD played her... and what on EARTH did that man want with her, anyway? They weren't even married, and she was a shrew - and not a pretty shrew, either. A frumpy shrew. She and the daughter both needed to be run over with a car.

There appeared to be a lot of stereotypes and one-dimensional characters in this as well. Nevertheless, Jürgen's role was interesting and he made it pretty decent popcorn for me.
