WING COMMANDER

1999. Stars Freddie Prinze, Jr.

A must-see. An intended tribute to DAS BOOT within this film turns out to be an uproariously funny parody of it instead - featuring Jürgen Prochnow. The rest of the movie is a waste except for the lovely art direction, but you can always while away the time playing Count the War-Movie Cliches. WING COMMANDER does contain some good performances as the cast rose above the material, mostly. On the other hand, that had to be the easiest thing in the world to do.
